I've honestly never been to an ice show. But I figure if I was going to go to one, it would be one that is
High School Musical related. I looking online and saw that opening day was easily half the price of regular admission so I bought the tickets online and thankfully had the day off from work. I basically live at the HP, but have never been to it while it's had it's ice out. Everyone swore up and down it'd be freezing. But it was relatively tame. No traffic and parking was only 10.00! When I go to a show I easily pay around 25-38 USD! So this was very pleasing. There is a massive huge crowd of schools and kids and I even spy some of the crew that hangs out at the local gym! It was surprising! Everyone I know acts too cool for HSM, but then again here they are at a freakin' ice show. Haters.
The staff lady was a dick and wouldn't let me approach the ticket counter to pick up my willcall tickets. I even asked, hoping to make it clear, I was here for willcall not purchasing, but she wouldn't let me get any closer. So I glare at ticket people and they call me over and let me pick up my tickets. The scanners weren't working at the door, so I sadly had my ticketstub ripped! The first in a good year, usually I'm able to take home my whole stub and keep it.

We get in line, there is a huge crowd but it goes quickly, no one really checks our stuff and cameras are allowed, they just don't want us to record. I see this huge massive merch booth, but it is kinda full of fail because there is no actual HSM people on the merch, just heavy plastic merch with flashing lights. The one thing that caught my eye was the cotton-candy that you can buy that comes with Ryan's hat. So I had to get it. YES. Any Evans-merch will be mine!

Our seats are lower level, row 16, but you can really sit anywhere in the HP and see everything. I wasn't worried about seating because I figure everyone was going to stay in their seats, I know the kids will frail around and be cute, but no one was going to block our view. We had two adults sit in front of us, so all was good. There was a pack of four elderly women behind us and my sister overheard that they were Sharpay fans. I was in good company! Hee. The only killer was with being on the very end in an aisle seat, everyone needs to pass you, so there was much standing up to move out of their way.

I was kinda under the impression that they would be doing bits and pieces of all three films, but the 'preshow' was based on the 3rd film, where they showed the extras from the dvd and did soem faux attempt to get the crowd to do some dance sets. Darn. I was really hoping to see the ice-version of
I want it all!

The show starts off with the first film, a smashing of all the main musical numbers. The two Ryan/Sharpay numbers are rushed. The first was my favorite HSM song of all time,
What I've Been Looking For. I really love how the effort was made to keep all the outfits, especially of Ryan and Sharpay's overthetop pieces in canon and even the smallest detail of the random outfits they wear in backroom scenes are done right!
What I've Been Looking For was done just so right and it's faaaaaaaaar to short and it's over before you know it. I recorded bits and pieces of all the Ryan and Sharpay stuff.

What I liked most about this adaption was that they made no attempt to hide Ryan or Sharpay; even in scenes where they weren't originally in, they were kept either on the ice or up on their balcony where they are either sulking or teasing each other. Believe me, this keeps me very entertained whenever certain characters are doing a ballad. They are easily my favorite two characters and
I firmly believe Troy and Gabriella represents what we should be, while Sharpay and Ryan represents what we are. There is something about a brother and sister duo who are fiercely loyal and determine that make them all the more endearing. As you can tell most of my photos are of the two. They are what I came for!

The first film is finished. There is a 15 minute intermission where Corbin Blue comes out and talking to the crowd. Everyone goes batshit crazy for this fool. Ahahha. I wonder if he took the time to seek his ice-skating counterpart and tell me, "YOU LOOK NOTHING LIKE ME!" The 2nd film starts up and it's rushed and I don't enjoy it all the much since it's filled with two things Troy/Gabriella angst-ballads and Sharpay losing that spark and all sense for Troy. Plus Ryan gets the snub, so there isn't much Ryan/Sharpay action together, but the outfits are spot on. When Ryan and Sharpay are together they throw the pair up on the balcony and it's hard to gets photos since it's the end of the arena.

I didn't resize all my images correctly! I think imageshack did the typical 800x600 when they were really aronud 2000x3000. Sorry about that. I have like 100+ on my myspace. I would go on and on but it's close to midnight. Ahahaha!
