| Cobra Starship touring with the Plasticines. And the Columbus Ohio show being sold out. | |
|
| A couple of sucks:
1.) Now, I know the name of my business is long and a bit like a tongue twister, but when you have the brochure in front of you and are standing in front of me, or are on the phone and sound like it is in front of you (and you then proceed to tell me that you're looking at it), please don't say 'Wild Dog Sled Show', 'Rodeo Dog Sled Thing', 'Sled Show Dog Rodeo', or any further combination thereof. WildRide Sled Dog Rodeo. Is it really that difficult to read? This real suck in this is that it happens 3+ times a day.
2.) This is sort of a witnessed suck, as they weren't my customers, but it took place in my shop. Background: I am the gift shop manager, and we share the space with the SegTours guy, who charges his machines in there. So these people come in asking about the SegTours, which happens all the time, and I'm glad to give them information. All the Segways are gone but one, because there's a tour out. So Curious Man from the group proceeds to go over to the Segway and examine it, including the 50¢ plastic kickstand which is clearly the only thing keeping the $5000 piece of machinery standing. He then proceeds to STAND on the Segway and SHAKE it. When I ask him to please get off because the kickstand will break and he'll faceplant into the floor as the Segway is (obviously) not on, he just kind of looks at me, messes around for a few more seconds, then gets off and leaves. Honestly, who jumps up on someone else's expensive machine and just starts screwing around? The sad thing is that Segway Man has to replace the kickstands every few weeks because of these idiots.

| Stepping backBefore I start, this post - and every post on here, and anything I say on Twitter, or anywhere else - is entirely MY opinion. Nothing to do with the people I've worked with, or the BBC, or anyone else. I don't speak for any other writers, I *only* speak for myself, and I will not pass on any messages to anyone. Here's my position: I'm not going get into any more discussions or debates about what happened in Torchwood this week (being vague, in case people come across this and haven't seen it). Not now, not in the future. Why? I started trying to discuss it, but swiftly realised that it was pointless. It simply turns into "No it isn't" / "Yes it is", and there's no way I can win the argument, because in certain people's opinion, I am wrong, and that's the end of it. And it's all just opinion anyway. It would also feel like I was trying to justify the show, and I'm not doing that. I have absolutely no need to. The show is the show. Whether you like it or dislike it, that's up to you. ( will probably have spoilery comments )his blog | |

| We weren´t very optimistic about the fate of Jonas Brothers´ JONAS… but we were wrong. Disney has picked JONAS for a second season and moved the shows to Sundays, pairing it up with Hannah Montana and Sonny With a Chance . JONAS, the tween-idol band’s fledgling Disney Channel sitcom, is on the move from its original night and time to Sunday, where, presumably, iCarly can’t hurt it anymore. Responding to an inquiry regarding the status of JONAS, which hadn’t aired a new episode in two weeks (after premiering only a month ago), the network said the show was getting a new home as part of a routine summer overhaul. The Monkees-aspiring JONAS debuted May 2 before a solid 4 million viewers, only to get hammered by an iCarly special the following week. Starting this weekend, the Jonases’ show, which formerly led off Saturdays, will be placed behind Sonny With a Chance, which itself will air after Hannah Montana, on Sundays. According to Disney, JONAS was May’s top-rated TV show among children 6-11, who, unfortunately for the sibling stars, aren’t old enough to work for the New York Times—and lobby against articles that ask if their act is “fizzling.” We were speculating about Jonas being cancelled, especially after how badly iCarly beat them up on the ratings in week two. And alongside Jonas, there goes Rules of Engagement, How I Met Your Mother renewed and Gary Unmarried all heading towards renewal. JONAS (previously J.O.N.A.S.) is an American Disney Channel Original Series created by Mantis Productions and It’s a Laugh Productions starring the Jonas Brothers. Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Joe Jonas appear as the Lucas Brothers, the three members of the fictional band “JONAS” who try to live a normal life in the face of stardom.

I'd been planning to do this for years: First an undercut, then a dreadhawk a few months later, then the last of 'em get shaved off in March 2010. :)
Saturday night was the right time for the first step, it seems! There were no tears- I was ready, and the ones that got cut off have always been kind of annoying anyway, always tickling my neck with their fluffies and getting caught in my bandana knots and necklaces. They now hang on my wall, to be made into falls later!

More pictures when I have 'em!

| The family of one of daytime's most beloved, presumed dead antiheroines may be experiencing one romantic heartache after another on The Young and the Restless, but the woman who created the legendary role of ghetto urchin-turned-fashionista Drucilla Barber Winters couldn't be happier right about now. On June 27, Victoria Rowell married famed, Atlanta-based, mixed media artist Radcliffe Bailey in Dublin, New Hampshire. The couple was surrounded by the women who raised Rowell, as well as numerous superstar friends, including Alfre Woodard and Samuel L. Jackson, the latter of whom gave Rowell away. Rowell and Bailey's wedding is featured in today's New York Times style section. Click here to check it out. Rowell's second book, the highly-anticipated novel Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva, is due to hit stands in 2010. One of the stops on her book tour that July was the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Ms. Rowell, who for several seasons was simultaneously on the prime time drama “Diagnosis Murder” and the daytime soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” was interviewed on stage at the festival by LaTanya Richardson Jackson, the wife of Samuel L. Jackson, with whom Ms. Rowell had appeared in the film “Home of the Brave.” source: WeLoveSoaps | |

| Will Johnny Depp portray Dean Martin in a new film?

Will Johnny Depp be tapped to play Dean Martin in a biopic of his life? Martin's daughter Deana reveals that Depp was her top choice to portray late singer Martin in a movie.
Deana acknowledged that a film is in the works, and will be directed by Joe Mantegna and written by comedian and actress Bonnie Hunt. Deana was speaking as a guest on a Boston radio program when she said, "[Depp] is a tremendous actor, he has that charm, that swagger, and the resemblance of my father is there. I’m sure he would do the role justice!”
Deana recently released a book called Memories Are Made of This, Dean Martin Through His Daughter’s Eyes and is a singer in her own right with a CD titled "Volare."

Anyone know if that's Jackie or Robert in that pic?
It's over - at least shooting is. I feel like I just ran a marathon. Though I will never know the actual feeling of finishing a marathon - I reckon this is what it feels like. Week after week of night shoots, distant locations and extreme weather, all taking its toll on all of us. Many of my other marathoners share the same 1000 yard stare I've got going. All of us simply spent. But all that effort, time and pain was for a great cause. We did it all for Freddy. To realize our dream of bringing him back... the way we remember him. Scary, mean and nasty. Now I know it will be hotly debated here, but I can tell you I am proud of what we did. Proud that Jackie Earle Haley was uncompromising in his desire to create a Freddy that is uniquely his own creation. Proud of Andrew Clement for his desire to create a look that will shock and scare you. You will surely recognize Freddy, but he is distinctively different, more real, and more burned. Jackie and Clement spent four hours a day painstaking applying all the make-up, appliances, texture before coming to shoot. And when we were all done at the end of the day they had to stay for at least another hour to take it off. For those of you keeping score at home that is 5 hours a day, on top of 12 hour shooting days. Those among you who are so closed-minded that you can't fathom anyone else playing the role, you are idiots. So much time and effort put into bringing Freddy back and you dismiss him before you've seen his efforts, it's just stupidity. See what we've done and then pass judgment; but there isn't a person out there who can tell me Jackie isn't a terrifying, inspired, awesome Freddy. I am grateful to Bloody Disgusting for its early support of that idea and can confidently tell you that choice was simply inspired. Sam Bayer suffered for this movie. He pushed himself so hard that I worried that he couldn't maintain his pace, yet he did. No one had more sleepless nights than Sam - replaying the day's events over and over in his head, questioning how to make it scarier, better. We would often have breakfast together before shooting and he was never content. If he was concerned that he could improve on a scare, he and our first ad, Myron, would figure out our schedule so we could shoot the scene until Sam felt it was as good as it could be. Sam has very high standards and he was unrelenting. He brought all his experience to those nightmares and they are outstanding - if you aren't familiar with his work, check him out on YouTube, he is a great visual artist. Making movies is like riding a unicycle down a steep hill. And when I read this back it seems like this movie was a dream shoot. Not true - we had all sorts of challenges on every level, but what was great about making this film was that we all had the same goal in mind. It really felt like a team effort to get to the finish line. And for me personally, when the end did come I didn't want it to. I know the blog has been quiet lately, but after I've rested a bit I will start posting more. A couple other things. Pay attention to Comic Con, we will have a couple of surprises for you there. If everything goes as planned we will reveal something special there.SourceI'm all for giving Jackie a chance as the new Freddy--if anyone can do it, its him. But calling fans 'idiots' because they prefer the actor who made Freddy his own for seven films? Classy.

Botulinum toxin Type A (Botox) was primarily used to treat muscle spasms before gaining popularity as a cosmetic treatment. Botox is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment administered by a doctor to treat frown lines. Botox works by reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause the frown lines that develop as people age. With appearance playing an important factor in their careers, many celebrities use Botox and aren't afraid to admit it. Jenny McCarthy, 36, says she goes for Botox every 2 months , “My tricks are I get Botox in my forehead – I just have my doctor do a little shoter there. If you overdo, it looks bad.”Vanessa Williams, 45, is a fan of Botox – even her character on Ugly Betty has her gay assistant give her Botox injections in her office. Vanessa gets injections in real life every 3 months.Model Daisy Fuentes, 42, uses Botox, “There’s a right time for things like Botox as you get older.” Lisa Rinna recently admitted to going overboard with Juvederm injections in her face. “In my family, it’s hereditary to have scowl marks between the eyebrows.” Lisa gets injections every 3 months. Lori Loughlin is a Botox user. “It makes you look like you’ve been on a really nice vacation. Just really well-rested.”Jennie Garth says she didn't have a good first experience with Botox. She told her doctor next time she wanted less. "I don’t want my face to change." Linda Evangelista openly talks her use of Botox. “How do other women feel when they see the pictures? Models are not superhuman. We grow old,” Linda says. Jennifer Aniston has admitted she once tried Botox and wasn’t a fan. “I tried Botox once. I felt like I had a weight on my head. You see women, you know they’re not young, but you can’t tell how old they are.”SOURCE: www.examiner.com/x-7089-Dallas-Beauty-Treatments-Examiner~y2009m7d12-Which-celebrities-use-Botox

| Is it just me, or do weekend guests tend to feel more entitled than weekday guests. They also seem cheaper, and always looking for a discount and complaining. Anyway, I worked the morning shift on Saturday, and it was a fairly good day, things went smoothly, until about noon when a million wedding guests were trying to check in early without requesting an early check in or calling ahead. We had an almost full house Friday night, so obviously housekeeping did not have their rooms ready, as 3pm is guaranteed check in time. People were not happy, and housekeeping was getting mad too. However, I am on good terms with many of the housekeepers and they knew its not me, its the guests, and I stopped bothering housekeeping, and went solely on room status' my computer told me. Then around 1:30 I get a lady and her husband walk upto my desk ( and the conversation went like this )Gotta love weekends, luckily I do not work any weekends for the rest of the summer! | |

| How important is someone's voice to you in the grand scheme of your attraction to them?
I ask this because I've been emailing and texting with a guy from Okcupid and it's been really awesome. We decided to talk on the phone and I was really not attracted to his voice :( and it automatically negated all the previous feelings of attraction.

| Dear Gaiafen,
Peyo, Ruby's son, was a toddler as recently as spring of this year. Even after the art shift, he's definitely still a young child. Young enough that he can't count to three-digit numbers yet.
For the love of baby ducks, if you are going to write smut intensely-romantic fanfiction involving him, please account for this in some way. Getting surprised with shota/toddlercon was not on my list of things to do today.
Mild irritation,
Yui

| Poor Farrah Fawcett. A month ago, People magazine's Larry Hackett admitted to the Times that she only had one remaining chance for some friendly press: "At this point, Farrah has to die," he said. "It's the only cover left for her." Needless to say, she's missed her chance. Having vanished from the headlines after Michael Jackson's sudden demise, Farrah is just the latest to join a peculiar group: the Eclipsed Celebrity Death Club. The classic ECD example is Groucho Marx, who passed away the same week as Elvis Presley, and thus missed out on a good week's worth of TV tributes. But the easiest way for a famous person to vanish from the earth without so much as a blip is to follow a president of the United States. Ray Charles caught barely a moment's coverage when he died in 2004, right in the middle of the weeklong blanket coverage of Ronald Reagan's death and funeral. Same story for James Brown, who got some press but definitely ran second to Gerald Ford. (The only person who could square off against a dead head of state, it seems, was Mother Teresa. When she died a few days after Princess Diana, a good deal of the coverage tried to frame them as comparably angelic figures.) And don't forget Alice Trillin—granted, not a worldwide celebrity, but a beloved figure to her husband Calvin's thousands of New Yorker-reading fans. While awaiting a heart transplant, she died on September 11, 2001, following the horrible deaths of thousands of New Yorkers. Most of her husband's readers only learned about it many months later, when he published About Alice. The championship trophy for badly timed death, though, goes to a pair of British writers. Aldous Huxley, the author of Brave New World, died the same day as C.S. Lewis, who wrote the Chronicles of Narnia series. Unfortunately for both of their legacies, that day was November 22, 1963, just as John Kennedy's motorcade passed the Texas School Book Depository. Huxley, at least, made it interesting: At his request, his wife shot him up with LSD a couple of hours before the end, and he tripped his way out of this world. Which, if you're going to go to your reward without anyone's noticing, is probably not a bad way to end it all. Source I feel like there were others, but I can't think of them, any ideas bbs? | |
